Kamalini Darling (Her Grace Kamalini-devi Dasi) has been a Bhakti-yoga practitioner for over 50 years. She is a disciple of her spiritual master His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (Srila Prabhupada), the Founder-Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). She became a devotee in 1972 after receiving a 'Back to Godhead' magazine and an invitation to a Sunday Love Feast at the nearby ISKCON temple in New York Ciry. She was initiated by Srila Prabhupada on January 1st, 1975.
Kamalini Darling is a seasoned preacher and the emblem of sobriety, humility and seriousness in Krsna consciousness. Her primary devotional services include book distribution, teaching devotee preschool, and assisting her husband Apurva Dasa in several Govinda Restaurant endeavors and prasadam catering. Due to her vast knowledge about ancient scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Caitanya Caritamrta and others, she is often invited to ISKCON events as a speaker for giving classes on topics in and related to these scriptures. She is also a wonderful storyteller and captivates the minds (and hearts) of young kids and adults alike through her sweet narrations and puppet shows demonstrating stories from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Srimad Bhagavatam and other epics and scriptures.
In the spirit of following her spiritual master's belief-cum-instruction that "Books are the basis" of the Hare Krishna movement, she has been distributing and selling spiritual books for over 50 years. She has been painstakingly travelling all over the country with her companions--her husband and LOTS of books--to serve previous as well contemporary spiritual masters, other spiritual authors in and outside the movement, readers and even chefs. In the recent years, she has sold her titles online by utilizing social media (Facebook and Instagram). In order to further serve them, she decided to put up her titles for sale online through a website and thus, 'Bhakti Books' was created.
She married Apurva Prabhu (His Grace Apurva Dasa), one of ISKCON’s most celebrated cooks, in October 1976. She has two adult children: Gaurangi-priya Dasi (formerly Panca-tattva) and Amala Harinama Dasa (formerly Amala Purana), as well as four grandchildren. She and Apurva reside at the New Goloka Temple Community in Hillsborough, NC.
